Tara Mantra - Karma, Dharma, Moksha

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Om Tare Mantra (Tara Mantra) is a Buddhist mantra chanted to liberate human beings from Samsara (the cycle of death and rebirth), suffering and pain.

If you believe in karma and reincarnation you'll understand that your body is just a vessel but your soul is eternal. We have many lessons to learn here on Earth before we can attain Moksha. This mantra (often recited by the Dalai Lama) is thought to help the chanter find inner peace, lessen suffering and ease feelings of grief or depression.

A translation of the mantra is below:

OM - a scared all encompassing sound of the universe - past, present and future.

TARE - the liberation from Samsara (the cycle of death and rebirth), pain and suffering. The Sanskrit invocation of Tara

TUTARE - liberates you from 8 internal and external fears, arising in your mind and from your surroundings

TURE - the true cessation of suffering and disease.

SOHA means to receive blessings from Tara in your heart. It is the Tibetan form of the Sanskrit word Svaha and allows the meaning of the mantra to take root in the mind of the chanter

You can hold onto Chakra stones or wear them as you chant and listen to this mantra.
